PRIOR: drwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 29 Movie1\(1982) ![]() Prior to setting PUID 99, PGID 100, and UMASK 000 on NZBGet, as Sonarr/Radarr were already set to those values. So any newly created folder should have the following permissions drwxr-xr-x? I don't currently have any docker set where UMASK = 022 Are you saying they should be 022? I looked up the Wiki for UMASK and if I understand it correctly it would mean that.Ġ USER - any permission may be set (read, write, execute)Ģ GROUP - setting of write permission is prohibited (read and execute)Ģ OWNER - setting of write permission is prohibited (read and execute) At least that's what the dockers I'm using (Sonarr/Radarr/NZBGet) are currently set to. I still have a couple of questions though, sorry. Thank you to everyone who has commented thus far. I would just set the UID and GID as I showed above for your docker containers and call it a day. The simplest solution though, is to use the shared group already built-into unraid, which is the group "users", which has a GID of 100. If you were to create a new group using the groupadd command, you could then create a user (sonarr, radarr, etc.) using the useradd command and make them a member of your new group- making a shared group. These are not the same users/groups that are used to access shares or administer unraid, but are essentially like a service account used only by docker containers within the linux OS. I have all of my dockers configured as follows and I have not had any permissions or user/group ownership issues: You should check the documentation for the docker container you are using, to determine if they support environmental variables for the user/group, which will ensure your files are created with the proper permissions. You want all of your applications to use a common user/group to ensure you don't have the permissions issues you described. If you look at the /etc/passwd file, you will see that there is UID and GID associated with "nobody" and the group "users". So in unRaid under users, you would create a user for each and they would be grouped together by a group like media? I don't see anything in unRAID about shared groups?Īre dockers supposed to be installed using the 'base' PGID, PUID and UMASK, or should they be changed? Let's use sonarr/radarr/nzbget as examples. Based on the link provided by /u/fryfog he mentions that ideally, each software runs as its own user, and they're part of a shared group. How does one fix this and how would I correct this so it doesn't happen moving forward?Īrgh. Why is one "1000" and the other "nobody". The info below was acquired running ls -al/mnt/user/Moviesĭrwxrwxrwx 1 nobody users 66 Apr 25 13:40 (Movie B) However, I then wondered what my Movie folder looked like. I fixed the TV folder issue by running the "New Permissions" from tools. After reading many posts about Windows 10 and unRAID shares, I learned that some of the folders on my TV share were missing the 'nobody' user. I mapped a drive to the private 'TV' share via a user on unRAID who has read/write access. This came about as I was attempting to copy some files from my Windows 10 PC to the /mnt/user/TV/Show/Season1 folder only to be denied access. I've had my unRAID server setup for about a year now, and according to a wiki article I came across, The Best Docker Setup by u/fryfrog I have apparently not set up my dockers properly. PGID, PUID
